Tips for Being Successful in My Classroom
- Google Classroom is your best friend. If you are absent and wondering what you missed, have lost handouts, or need to get caught up on missing work, go to Google Classroom first! It is constantly updated with PowerPoints, class notes, assignment sheets, and anything else you may need to stay on top of your work.
- Ask for help. The last thing I want is for my students to walk out of my classroom confused. If you are unsure of what is being discussed, can't seem to grasp our notes, or don't understand how to complete an assignment, please come see me during a Spartan Success. I am happy to give you whatever assistance you need!
- Be engaged in your education. Yes, getting classwork done -- completing worksheets, copying down notes -- is important. However, passivity it is not enough to learn what you need to know. Participate in discussions, ask questions, share opinions. So much of what we read in class connects to real life. These lessons are some of the most important ones you will learn.
- Listen when others are talking. Whether it is your classmates or your teacher, give whoever is speaking your attention. Not only is it a sign of respect, but it will prevent you missing important information, such as due dates or instructions. This is a life skill that is important to learn now -- nobody wants to hire someone who can't pay attention.
